Originally named by The Stoney, Ho-ran-num-nay, meaning “lake of little fishes”, the name was  changed in 1882 to Emerald Lake by Tom Wilson of the CPR and today’s name, Lake Louise in 1884 to honour Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. The jewel-like lake is framed by blue mountain peaks and gleaming snowfields and is sone of the most famous vistas on the continent. This exclusive design by our very own local artist, Bryony Toon, captures the classic view from the Chateau Lake Louise looking down the lake to Mount Victoria.
